Waiting for Patience

A recap of the weekend in pics! A new pizza with Naan Bread as the crust , beet hummus as the sauce , all topped with spinach, tomatoes, and honey goat cheese.  And yes that is my SUPER messy desk (only one section) ... it still looks like that - until World Feast 2014  is over, I think it'll look just like this!  If you're in the Charlotte Area, come on over on the 18th of this month! All of these great fall veggies, turned into this... Butternut Squash, Acorn Squash, Apples, Carrots, Onions, Garlic ... YUM-O! No one ever brings me flowers at work ... so I took matters into my own hands by picking  my own after Mass.  So now happiness on my desk! I even attended Mass in the Extraordinary Form  on Saturday morning in Honor of Our Lady.  It was lovely - and really quite peaceful.  There was music, but I think I may have liked it even more without - just quiet morning time with the Lord.  And I could not ...

We got super crafty for our shower - remember the soaps?  There are also tons of little chocolate ducks to go with them too ... see? Super cute and super delicious! Back to the watermelon baby! I took these ingredients: and created this: A true fruit artist!  Maybe there's a career in this?

We had this idea for the favor that seemed a little crazy, but hey - that's really what we're after for shower stuff!  We purchased a cute duck mold to make yellow chocolates for cupcake toppers.  And we decided to make soap ducks as well! How does one make their own soap, you ask?  Well, here's how: 1.  You will need a glass pyrex bowl, soup spoon, and knife to cut the soap. 2. Next purchase some soap - I chose the Shea Butter soap (which I couldn't get the picture to turn around, so sorry - turn your phone, tablet, or computer over!  This 32oz size ended up making 50 little soaps for us! 3.  You'll need some dye (the two colored bottles) and a fragrance (the unknown item). 4. And a mold - Hobby Lobby had all kinds of molds, but we were set on the duckies! 5. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Since I'm supposedly in charge of stuff at our parish, I thought I would show the teacher's my appreciation for their good work.  So I made a cute little thing up to give them to say thanks! I perused Pinterest for a while searching until I could find the perfect little thing and then the Swedish Fish jumped out at me and said: It's Of-Fish-ial!  You help our students swim to the top! Hope they enjoy it today!

So excited to go to my friend Erica's baby shower today and I was in Target trying to figure out what to get her and Pat as gifts.  I could just get her something off her registry and be boring, but I decided to get creative.  MG helped me sew a little last night and I made some crochet chains and spiced up the onesies.  Pretty proud of my work - although it wasn't so much effort that they can't get a little messy! I'm hoping she likes them and gets a chuckle whenever they get dressed (a boy baby and a girl baby)! The other part of my gift was free baby-sitting, which I hope she takes me up on because I am super excited to hold these little ones!

--- 1 --- I've been watching less tv lately and it's been awesome for my life at home on weekends and evenings! I thought it would be hard to give up tv but its actually been really great!. --- 2 --- December 3rd is the beginning of Advent, the new Church year, and my new life! Lots of things have been produced from this little apartment lately! With all those T-Shirts I've been making some great things! The first choice was re-usable bags!  Using them to put my recyclables in!  Re-purposing an item in order to recycle others, totally 'gone-green'! THEN, thanks to my friend MG, I got this CRAZY idea to make a rug out of my t-shirts.  So cutting up many shirts into strips that were too large, I embarked on this adventure.  So I bought a latch-hook form (30x36) and a hook and began this effort.  In a week, I've done 15 squares of 10x10 - I'm trying not to count the number of little strips, but that's 1500 and as you can see I'm almost nowhere close to even being a quarter of the way through!  I WILL not be conquered - so this is a project I will eventually finish, I think!  By eventually, my first child might enjoy this - and that's at least 2 years, but most likely more away from today!
