Duo lingo...are you teaching me the most important things?

So I downloaded an app to help teach me Portuguese before World Youth Day and here is a sampling of the things it taught be tonight. I must have no idea the things that are important to life in Brazil.

Dear Walmart Customers:

Dear Walmart Customers, I was with you for a little while yesterday and I noticed a few things that are troubling me. After I parked my car, I was walking into the store and I saw this: Why do you insist on putting the carts here in the  middle where they don't belong?  There are cart holders (not really sure their official title) all over the parking lot - are you really so exhausted from pushing you 5 items around that you cannot bear to push this cart any further than in front of your parking spot? Secondly, I believe I was shopping with almost one million other shoppers and there were about 10 of the 25 possible lanes open - so naturally, I found a line and prepared to wait.  I went to the magazine rack and got myself some reading material.  Found a great new recipe for fresh corn with queso fresco - YUM, I've got to make some of that soon.  And read while I waited ... and listened to the woman behind me complain and complain and complain about ho...

Crafty: Baby Shower Gift

So excited to go to my friend Erica's baby shower today and I was in Target trying to figure out what to get her and Pat as gifts.  I could just get her something off her registry and be boring, but I decided to get creative.  MG helped me sew a little last night and I made some crochet chains and spiced up the onesies.  Pretty proud of my work - although it wasn't so much effort that they can't get a little messy! I'm hoping she likes them and gets a chuckle whenever they get dressed (a boy baby and a girl baby)! The other part of my gift was free baby-sitting, which I hope she takes me up on because I am super excited to hold these little ones!

7 Quick Takes Friday, May 3rd

For More Quick Takes, visit  Conversion Diary ! - 1 - My life has become full and blogging has apparently taken a back seat.  Not a bad thing, except that the things that have been filling my life up include cleaning the bathroom and assuring the kitchen is looking good!  I really dislike the big cleaning jobs, I should really be better at the regular cleaning up.  I purchased a swiffer wet for this purpose, but am terrible at following up!  So, this week cleaning the apartment had to literally be put on the calendar and one major clean down: bathroom (and subsequently the bedroom was vacuumed)! - 2 - How Cindy knows exactly what to write, I will never know.  But this week's post about Fantasy Relationships really hit home.  Last weekend I was with the teens on retreat and we were just having this conversation late Saturday night when we should have been sleeping.  They think they are in these amazing relationships with boys that have nev...

7 Quick Takes Friday, April 26th

For More Quick Takes, visit  Conversion Diary ! A few short quick takes for this week... - 1 - I've decided and entirely embraced bloglovin' as my new google reader.  I actually like it more, if that's okay to say.  I enjoy going to the actual page of the blog to read it so I get to see all of the great designs people have up!  So Follow my blog with Bloglovin! - 2 - Played kickball last night, and we won again!  We are officially undefeated!  I've never been on an undefeated team before and I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty stoked about it! - 3 - This weekend is our Annual Diocesan Youth Conference so I'm headed up to Black Mountain for the weekend with Sister and the youths. - 4 - Sr. Edeva is our new youth minister, since I abdicated my position back in November (I was on the bandwagon before Benedict)!  She's doing a fabulous job.  She likes hanging with the kids and they seem to like her as well! - 5 - Work has been super bus...

7 Quick Takes Friday, April 19th

For More Quick Takes, visit  Conversion Diary ! A few of my favorite moments from the week are to follow! - 1 - Watching this video produced by Dove  brought tears to my eyes. There have been so many articles and posts bashing Dove  and this video and I'm floored by any negative response.  I realize they are doing this to sell dove  beauty products - hello!  But a company who produces something that helps how women see themselves, is doing some great work in my mind.  One comment from this blog really struck me, no bothered me: What you look like should not affect the choices that you make. It should certainly not affect the friends you make—the friends that wouldn’t want to be in relationship with you if you did not meet a certain physical standard are not the friends that you want to have. Go out for jobs that you want, that you’re passionate about. Don’t let how good looking you feel like you are affect the way way that you treat your...
