Answer Me This ... August 17th

1. What is your favorite room in the house? Well, since I have a new house, I don't know quite yet - but I love the living room for the couch and overall sense of family, the bedroom because I'm a big fan of sleeping, and the kitchen since I like spending my evenings making new things! 2. Do you subscribe to any magazines or other periodicals? Nope!  Thought about buying a LivingSocial for one a while back, but decided against it.  Don't know if I'd read it or if it would just become garbage.  I do get the Catholic Newspaper for our Diocese though! 3. How do you feel about the sign of peace in Mass? Enriching? Awkward? Overdone? Just right? Some combination of the above? Well, I used to think that I loved it.  Then at my old parish for Daily Mass we were in the Church and we were so far apart, it's just awkward when everyone is so far away and you have to do the 'peace sign' with your fingers - which I dislike a lot during Mass.  Now we don'...

Five Favorites {September 25th}

  I have been noticeably absent from blogging for a while (except for Five Favorites) - but the reason is because I've been trying to catch up on my book club reading (see below) and that I went to New York City this weekend to purchase a car!!! So, some favorites, just for y'all! 1.  This is the book club book that is excellent! But it's keeping me from these great books I just got in the mail (and one I've had for a while, but it's Novena time for St. Therese so it's been brought back out!  2.  I've been missing Elisabeth this week - and friends from the past in general so I made her famous S'Mac and Cheese for dinner the other night! Hoping I can turn some of the left overs into little s'mac and cheese cupcakes for book club on Thursday! YUMMY!!!  3.  When we were in New York (roommate went with me to keep company on the 635 mile drive), we found this gem right on the street!  It'll help us display our fancy wine ...

The 3 million people we prayed with on Saturday evening during the Vigil. 3. The most delicious caramel dessert I've ever eaten! (needed a pick-me-up one day)   4. Being on the beach - artists there did the coolest sand art! 5. And of course, Papa!  It looks like he's waving right at us! Check out Hallie and friends for more favorites today!

Five Favorites {July 10th}

  I spent the past weekend in Denver, Colorado, and am still recovering from sleep (or a lack of it on the way home).  So, this week's favorites are my 5 favorite pics from the trip! 1. At Garden of the gods we took a TON of pictures that I'm sure I will post more of in the coming weeks because they were so amazing! 2. We got there with the sun in just the right place - really showcases the beauty of the Lord! 3. Elisabeth and I at the top of Cabrini Shrine.  This was my first real view of the mountains.  We climbed the 373 steps up and enjoyed the amazing view at the top! 4. This is at the top of Pike's Peak, America's Mountain , with a view of the rain on the far right.  What a gorgeous view! 5. We climbed that winding road all the way to the top of the mountain and it was so amazing!!! Head on over to Hallie's to see everyone else's favorites too!

I've been dog/house sitting this week and so I will give you, in pics, my five favorite pets! 1.    2. 3.  although, they require some tank cleaning - and one time I had a fish jump out of the tank in a suicide attempt! 4.  5.  For some real favorites, head over to the gang at Hallie's ! p.s. Kudos to all you dog lovers out there - I will admire you from afar, very afar!

Five Favorites (June 19th)

1.  Faithful Servant: It's a week long retreat hosted by my Diocese of youth and adults to learn and practice leadership skills.  This week we have 55 adults and teens.  It's been great - last night I came home to work for a few days, but I'm going back tomorrow night after work.  But some crazy things happen there, so these are my favorites: 2.  Christopher: one of my kids during the lip sync contest on Monday evening.  He and another boy did something with Part of Your World  from The Little Mermaid .  It was just delightful.  In this video - he's the tall one! 3. One of the topics I presented on this year was Consensus.  This is where the group decides what is best for the group and takes a consensus rather than voting.  This way everyone's opinions are part of the process and all are involved.  The activity was finding one flavor of ice cream with 6 toppings to have as a treat at our Skit Bonanza on Thursday even...

Five Favorites (June 12th)

Some Favorites for this week: 1. English Trifle!  Our secretary made an amazing trifle for Father's Ordination Anniversary Lunch and it made me think of this video: 2. Our new statues in the Church - every time I go into the Church I am pleasantly surprised and excited to see Mary and Joseph! 3. BlogLovin' - I enjoy this so much better than the old google reader format - and although I have a deep affection for google, I'm glad they forced me to migrate! 4. My friend Elisabeth!  I just purchased a plane ticket to travel to see her over the 4th of July and I couldn't be more excited!!! 20 days until me and this face are reunited!!! she's on the left!!! 5. MG - Favorite today (and every day) because tonight we're going out to celebrate her birthday! That's all folks!  Head on over to Moxie Wife for some more favorites!

Five Favorites (June 5th)

Some Favorites for this week: 1. I found a super cute pin that lead me to this great Sugar Free Mom's blog and made these (my actual muffins that I made from a pin that were not a pinstrosity ): They are my new favorite snack.  Her recipe is in the link...I tweaked it a little substituting only honey (1 cup), Soy Silk Light instead of 1% milk, and put the 'toppings' of blueberries and walnuts right in the batter.   Delicious! 2. Speaking of favorite blogs - I love  Pinstrosity!  They have crazy pics like this... That's a real shame about that pin - I really wanted to make myself some mac'n'cheese in a mug in the microwave! 3. I also get a huge kick out of this website of common woes... Passive Aggressive Notes ! Every time I read one I think "I should have thought of that when so-and-so did such-and-such." 4. New Roommates!  I got one this week and I'm still excited!  It's been almost 5 days, so we might be in the ...

Five Favorites (May 29th)

Some Favorites: 1. The Pope - I read this post before work today and got a chuckle, thought you'd like it too! The year was 1770, and in a small Italian church, two altar boys prepared for Benediction. Annibale Della Genga and Francesco Castiglioni entered the sacristy, put on their albs, and grabbed the heavy brass candlesticks. And then they began to bicker. Arguing over who would stand on the priest’s right for the procession, their quibble escalated into a shouting match. Alarmed parishioners turned their heads to the back of the church to see the commotion, and that’s when it happened: Castiglioni cracked Della Genga over the head with his candlestick. Blood dripped out of Della Genga’s head, and both boys began shoving each other. Shocked parishioners screamed, “Throw them out! Throw them out!” So the embarrassed priest grabbed the boys, led them to the door, and tossed them out of the church. Now fast-forward several decades to 1825. Half a mil...

Five Favorites (May 7th)

Found out about Five Favorites from one of my favorite mom blogs over at The Camp  this evening.  Figured I was on a blogging roll so why not link up there and make it a full week! So, some favorites: 1. Swedish Fish - I haven't had them in a LONG time, but tonight I made these little bags of goodies for our pre-school teachers at work and just happened to have a few left over! 2. How I Met Your Mother - I think Ted might actually meet her this season, in just a couple of episodes and I'm just a little excited!  I've been waiting for this - and the entire scene they paint gives me hope for meeting my future spouse.  I mean if a guy with professional writers scripting his love story can't find a gal - then us lowly people without writers surely can be given a little extra time!  3. Pope Francis - is it not one of everyone's favorites!  I mean, really - today's tweet was: Do not be content to live a mediocre Christian life: walk with determin...
